PHATLINE - COLLEGE GAME DAY WEEK 1

Another day of great college football and a board full of plays. Of course keeping the same rules and
"PLAYING ONLY THE GAMES ON TV"
We start the day with a great 12:00 play on ESPN
#17 Virgina Teach vs East Carolina (Game is being played in Charlotte, NC)
East Carolina is returning alot of Seniors and Juniors and VT has lost the WR`s and two NFL defense backs. Tech will not have the play makers to help support Kenny Lewis Jr who can be a good ACC running back but with no WR`s and Macho Harris out of this game, ECU head coach
Skip Holtz' who's five-year contract keeps him through 2011 will have his Pirates ready and could upset the Hokies. Senior QB Patrick Pickney who had a Passer Rating of 131.69 will be one of the 20 Seniors leading the Pirates. ECU is also returning 29 Juniors. The Pirates are always an underrated team. Skip Holtz is a great motivator like his father. Holtz, now has a career spread mark of 26-11 ATS, including 17-6 ATS as an underdog (6-0 ATS getting 10 points or more)
We will take ECU plus the points as they could win the game SU.

Missouri also returning 10 starters losing 1st Team All-Big 12 DT Lorenzo Williams
has a Fighting Illi team who also lost a key player in 1st round NFL draft pick Rashard Mendenhall and also lose 5 starters on the defense. Chase Daniels could be a Heisman Winner and the Offense will put up Big Numbers all year. Juice Williams will not have the help he got from Mendenhall as last year`s game was the worse for the Tigers and it will not happen again.

COLLEGE GAMEDAY THURSDAY NIGHT

What a great way to start the college football season with 14 games on tonight. We try to remember our rules for playing now as we come into both the NFL and College seasons. PLAY THE GAMES ON TV!!! Why? BECAUSE WE LIKE TO WATCH OUR MONEY!!

The South Carolina Gamecocks are returning 10 starters on defense and have an NFL linebacker, Jasper Brinkley who was out most of the season back in the line up. With NC State having so many injury problems on offense it will be hard for the Wolfpack to score. The Gamecocks will be starting the former holder on placements for the kicker so I don't see the Spurrier nation putting up alot of points. With 81% on the Gamecocks, we will stay off the line as the Under looks like a great play.

Wake Forest is returning QB Riley Skinner who has 18 career wins as a starter, tying the school record ... Has set school records for completion percentage in a season (72.4) and career (69.5) and led the nation in completion percentage in 2007 at 72.4. They also return Josh Mcadams, last years ACC All-Freshman team and ACC Freshman of the Year.
Baylor has a new head coach and QB Miami reject, transfer Kirby Freeman. Baylor may be lucky to score. Look for a blow out and cover.

Oregon State won 7 of their final 8 games last season
with a Bowl Win against Maryland. Stanford will have a decent defense and Jim Harbaugh may have the Cardinals believing by the middle of the season. The Beavers offense should beable to cover the line. I dont look for this to be a high scoring affair so the Beaver and Under should be good plays. Oregon State: 8-2 UNDER in the first two weeks of the season
Stanford: 2-9 ATS as a home underdog.

PHATLINE - NFL THURSDAY NIGHT

We are back tonight with a fade the public play tonight. Bears announcing Kyle Orton as the Starter this week, which is the best decision. Orton wins games, he did at Purdue and he has in Chicago. He is 12-6 as a starter and will be a decent QB this season. The 49ers however, are coming off a 34-6 win at home, last Saturday.

Offense is starting to believe in the Mike Martz system while the Bears, are coming off a heart break loss in overtime. Bears Pro Bowl kicker Robbie Gould missed a 47-yard field goal as regulation time expired. Seventh-round draft pick Brandon Coutu kicked his fifth field goal from 36 yards 3:28 into overtime.

PHATLINE Thursday Night

With a good couple of days off, we bounce back tonight with 2-good match ups. Im not sold that Delhomme is going to come back after the Tommy John surgery and Matt Moore is not the answer. Steve Smith not playing tonight, Eagles 2nd game and Mcnabb should play most of first half so I look for the Eagles to have the edge.

We took the Steelers in there first game and we will be going with the Steelers tonight due to the Depth at running back for the Black and Gold. Buffalo coming off a short week with a close game against Skins. Big Ben should play most of first half.

PHATLINE - MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

Monday Night Football featuring the Bengals vs Packers, a team that has to win tonight, showing the world that they can do without J-E-T Farve. If Aaron Rogers is not ready to step it up, which I think he is good enough to hand off and throw dump passes in the West Coast Off. Brian Brohm and Matt Flynn who won National Championship last year at LSU will be there to step in and although they have no NFL experience Brian Brohm was at one point projected to be #1 pick. Bengals dont have much after the first string off and although they have former Saints and Rams starter Ryan Fitzpatrick. Lambeau and the fact that Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy wants to prove they can win without Farve.

Phatline - NFL Saturday Night

Nice winner last night which set up for a bunch of games on tonight. We have to look at the Redskins not only because they are going to be for real this year, this is also there 2nd preseason game and with Jim Zorn feeling he still needs to prove something, look for the Redskins to cover the number.

Colts also in the same situation with this being their 2nd game. Quinn Grey is better than Matt Moore and Mike Hart should be in during the 4th Quarter to help get the cover.

Dallas needs to win and they need to look good, so I see them going up early on the Charges tonight and getting the SU win.

PHATLINE wants to say go TEAM USA!
BRING HOME THE GOLD.
I have to say thanks to Nike for making some of the best commercials in the World!!!!

PHATLINE PICKS NFL

Another 2-0 night, we have to say Saints look good and moved down field and Tyler Thigpen won the game for us, with a minute to go in the game for the cover and the SU win.

Tonight, we have another great game that I see as another mismatch as the lines have the Eagles and Steelers at a pk. Both starters will be equal here but the Steelers are alot deeper at every position, and with the better back up running backs are better and that is a key factor of the 3rd and 4th quarter. Also Dennis Dixon is that much better than Kevin Kolb and Charlie Batch has more experience than AJ Feely. After Mcnabb and Westbrook the Eagles are very thin.

THURSDAY NIGHT- NFL

Tonight we will go with two underdog plays as there is big money mismatch for both plays. There is 85% on the Bears which set up for a huge Fade the Public. We will take the Chiefs and the points due to the Bears off season woes, and the Chiefs start the rebuild. Saints will score alot of points this year and you should get a sample tonight. With alot of players on the Saints fighting for 2nd team / playing time and Cards having alot of first team sitting out tonight Looks like line should be the other way.

GUESS WHO IS BACK?

Tonight starts the first game of the year with the Hall of Fame game featuring the Colts vs Skins. After we posted a 58-48-3 record for basketball this past season, we turn to the Pre-season to start the bank roll. Alot of people out there say don't "I don't play pre-season" well that is absolutely crazy. The pre-season can be a very profitable start to the season.

With Jim Zorn getting his first start as Head coach for the Skins, he will feel the need to get a win tonight to win the side of the fans. With alot of Colts starters sitting out tonight, Look for Zorn to take his West Coast offense to Dungy and the Peyton less Colts.
